Jou starts out a very high-strung and overstressed person. As the oldest of the Chosen Children, he often feels it's his duty to make sure everyone is doing okay. Though nervous and clumsy, he is considered very trustworthy and is an extremely responsible person.
Jou lives with his father and mother. His father is a doctor, as is the Kido family tradition. Jo has two older brothers that moved away from home after Digimon Adventure, Shin and Shuu; Shin is interning to be a doctor, like his father, while Shuu is studying anthropology in Kyoto University under Takenouchi Haruhiko, Sora's father.

He is the sixth grader, the oldest of the other children. He makes many mistakes because he thinks that he has to do something because he is a senior. He studies hard as a grinder so he is indecision sometimes, but he became a good gurdian and got good insights through the adventure in Digital World.
